Region 4 Small Urban Program

MDOT Small Urban Transportation Program funding is available to the following communities in Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren Counties:

 

  • Dowagiac Small Urban Area (including the City of Dowagiac, Dowagiac

    2021 Project Amendment Requests

    City of Hartford Prospect Street

    Due to cost increases, the City of Hartford will be increasing their local match from the original programmed amount of $70,000 to $260,700

     Dial A Ride, and portions of Silver Creek, Wayne, Pokagon, and LaGrange Townships)

  • Berrien Springs Small Urban Area (including the Villages of Berrien Springs, Eau Claire, Berrien Bus, and portions of Berrien Township and Oronoko Charter Township).

  • Coloma/Watervliet/Hartford Small Urban Area (including Cities of Coloma, Watervliet, and Hartford, Van Buren Public Transit, Berrien Bus, and portions of Hartford Township, Coloma Township, and Watervliet Township).
  • South Haven Small Urban Area (including the City of South Haven, Casco Township, and South Haven Township, along with Van Buren County Public Transit and Allegan County Public Transit.)

 

Funding Projects and Programs
Local road and transit agencies are may submit projects on a bi-annual basis. Projects must meet these guidelines.
 
Project Selection
Each Small Urban Area has one voting representative each from the county road commission, city or village, and the public transit agency. (Townships are represented by their county road commission)  Projects are submitted and prioritized by representatives and then submitted to MDOT for final selection.
