Southwest Michigan Economic Development Partners

Choose the Southwest Michigan Region!

The Southwest Michigan region includes Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren Counties.  The following links provide an easy gateway to more in-depth information about each of these areas.

Berrien County

Berrien County's excellent location in the heart of "Michigan's Great Southwest" makes it a prime market for business, industry, and tourism.  Strategically located on the Chicago/Detroit, Grand Rapids/Indianapolis vectors, Berrien County is served by major interstate highways, airports, rail transportation, and shipping -- both deep draft and river barge.  The scenic natural beauty and 50 miles of shoreline on Lake Michigan make Berrien County a choice destination for tourists, artists, and naturalists.

Cass County

Bright blue lakes and deep green rivers provide the perfect complement to the natural prairies and rolling farmland of Cass County.  Located between several large cities (including Chicago and Detroit), this agricultural county remains a quiet oasis of natural beauty.  Cass County has an excellent community college, a hospital and the Dowagiac Municipal Airport.  It is also within a 20-mile drive to two major universities, six major hospitals and a regional airport.

Van Buren County

More than 1,000 farms add color to the picturesque rural landscape of Van Buren County.  The county's relatively moderate climate contributes to an abundance of orchards and vineyards and is ranked first in the production of all berries in the state and is sixth in the country!  Van Buren is also ranked second in the state for harvested vegetables and seventh in the state for pre-cut Christmas trees.
