Goal 1 - Establish and expand partnerships that aid the development and connection of all types of trailways throughout
southwest Michigan.
Build strong public participation and awareness of SMART's purpose and activities
- - Promote work of SMART through public education materials, press releases and workshops developed by SMART. (HIGH)
- - Identify and involve partners/stakeholders (private sector, health care, non-profits, community leaders, state agencies, tourist councils, etc.). (HIGH)
- - Maintain and update partner contact list(s) as needed. (HIGH)
- - Utilize e-mail to communicate information about meetings and resources. (HIGH)
- - Develop partnership agreements to ensure SMART is recognized as the regional trails group in SW MI. (MED)
- - Build partnerships with state and local tourism bureaus (Mlive). (HIGH)
Educate and build capacity of existing and new organizations to develop and manage trailways
- - Identify topics of interest related to trailways and plan and host workshops/speakers that will assist communities in trailway development and management. (MED)
- - Bring individuals/groups/communities together to share ideas and to collaborate on opportunities that cross jurisdictional boundaries. (HIGH)
- - Create a forum on the website to share information. (HIGH)
