The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is developed to document road and transit projects that will be occuring in the near future within the NATS boundary. Click here to access the current TIP, which is valid for fiscal years 2008-2011.
A public hearing was held on February 24, 2010 to select projects for federal Surface Transportation funding for the 2011-2014 Transportation Improvement Program. Unlike other funding programs like transit, safety, congestion mitigation, and Safe Routes 2 School, local agencies in the Twin Cities area have to compete with one another for Surface Transportation funding.
The projects were selected (with public input) by the NATS project selection committee made up of local and county road officials, using the following criteria: condition of the roads, traffic on the roads, project score (using the criteria prioritized by the public), and local funding contribution.
The draft project list developed from the meeting will be posted on this page for public comment in March 2010.

Jobs for Main Street
At the Project Selection Meeting described above, a wish list of projects was created for the NATS area to use potential future federal stimulus funding. Click here to read about the Jobs for Main Street bill, which recently passed the House of Representatives and is now in the Senate.
